Most other centers specialize in LASIK, or a version of LASIK called IntraLase (i-LASIK) that was developed to decrease the chance of complication while cutting the flap. In SafeSight, instead of cutting your cornea in half, Dr. Chynn merely treats the front surface of your cornea eliminating the need for the risky cutting step. Fully 90% of all LASIK complications involve the flap, so by not making a flap, we're eliminating 90% of all possible complications (including the most serious ones).
